OUR WORK
With our sister local organization, “Sauvons les Enfants du Congo,” we confront Kinshasa’s street children crisis. Tens of thousands of children are living on the streets of Kinshasa. They have been mostly forced out by poverty, violent home lives and family breakups.
Our work includes:
– Food Distribution
– Clothing Distribution
– Medical Aid
– Education Program
HCDRC
Our Story
This is the story of a group of immigrants who have made America their home, but still remember their Congo motherland. Poverty, disease, and war are daily staples in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Confronted with Congo’s humanitarian crisis that has shattered the life of thousands of children being orphaned and abandoned, Guy Tshiteya, Felly Mytheo and Simon Lecane knew that they had to do something. Helping Children of DR Congo was thus founded in September 2019 to provide care, shelter, support, protection, and education to Congolese Children living under difficult circumstances. We also have a sister organization in DR Congo, called “Sauvons les Enfants du Congo” (S.E.C.), that is a legally incorporated Congo charitable organization.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where does HCDRC get its funding?
As a 501(c)(3) organization, all of our funding comes from donations. Foundations, corporations, families and individuals make up the core of HCDRC’s funding pool.
What percentage of HCDRC’s expenses are used for programs?
I want to donate. What methods of payment can I use?
How does HCDRC decide which orphanage or children’s shelter to support and help?
We only work with orphanages, children’s shelters and local nonprofit organizations that have been legally recognized by the Congolese government. We do not take unsolicited requests for funding and support. Our HCDRC local team visits regularly the orphanages and children’s shelters, interviews caregivers and spends time with the children.
